Mass. College Lax: Sunday’s Tournament Roundup

Two local tournament lacrosse contests occurred this afternoon and below are their outcomes.

Women’s Lacrosse:

Boston College 8, Loyola (Md.) 3: Sarah Mannelly and Covie Stanwick combined for six strikes and one assist as the Eagles defeated the Greyhounds in the second round of the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament. The Eagles, who’ll continue its season in the quarterfinals next weekend, will take on Syracuse, who defeated Stony Brook this afternoon, 13-6.

BC’s Mikaela Rix finished with two points on one goal and one helper, while Kate Rich chipped in one marker. Zoe Ochoa, who improved to 3-0 overall this season, turned away four shots.

Curry 11, Worcester State 7: Alli Schoff, who finished with four points on three markers and one assist, initiated a 4-0 run with 10:21 remaining in the second half, which helped the Colonels go onto claim their first-ever Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Tournament crown.

The Colonels, who earned a spot on this afternoon’s title match following a win over Rivier University on Friday, conclude its season 11-9. Haley Carey paced the Purple and White with seven points on five strikes and two helpers, while Christina Wallis turned away five shots.

Worcester State’s Kalia Chase and Jackie Connors each finished with three points (two goals, one assist). The Lancers conclude its campaign 13-5 overall.
